6 day Tanzania safari to the Usambara Mountains, exploring one of the country’s most scenic and culturally rich regions. This exhilarating journey promises breathtaking mountain landscapes, lush forests, unique wildlife, and enriching cultural experiences with local communities.
6 Days Usambara Mountains Trek Itinerary
Arrival: Arusha
Arrival the Airport where you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Arusha. The Usambara Mountains are among the most biodiverse regions in the world, offering thick tropical forests, unique terrain, and wildlife uncommon in the rest of Africa.
Day 1: Arusha – Lushoto
Depart Moshi at 7:30 am for Lushoto (5-hour drive). Arrive early afternoon for lunch. Afternoon walk or drive to Irente Viewpoint and Irente Farm, known for its fruit and vegetable production.
Dinner and overnight at Muller’s Lodge: full board.
Day 2: Safari in Usambara Mountains
Drive through the Eastern Arc mountains with stops for photography, sisal plantations, and environmental explanations. Enjoy lunch en route before checking in at the hotel. Optional short walk to nearby waterfalls in the afternoon.
Dinner and overnight at Muller’s Lodge: full board.
Day 3: Usambara Mountain Trek
Guided walk through Usambara Mountain forests. Spot forest birds, reptiles, butterflies, black & white colobus monkeys, and more. Picnic lunch provided. Optional village tour to learn about local traditions.

Day 4: Safari in Korogwe
Walk to Vuga Peak (4–5 hours) with views of Mombo and Korogwe towns. Explore montane forest with high chances of spotting colorful forest birds, reptiles (like chameleons), monkeys, and forest flowers. Lunch en route and visit nearby village. Optional short walk in the evening for bird watching or waterfalls.
Dinner and overnight at Muller’s Lodge: full board.
Day 5: Safari in Lushoto
Full-day tour of Lushoto town and Irente Farm (3–5 hours). Visit local markets if available. Observe Maasai plains, Lake Jipe, Mazinde town, sugarcane, banana, coffee, and vegetable plantations. Walk through natural trails in the montane forest. Optional bird watching or waterfall visits.
Dinner and overnight at Muller’s Lodge: full board.
Day 6: Lushoto – Moshi
After breakfast, drive back to Moshi. End of your Usambara Mountains trek adventure.
